"Without style playing and winning are not enough." - Rene Lacoste
Was Lacoste correct to make this statement? Up for debate. What's not up for debate is that Sporting Kansas City places great importance on the team's style on the field. Trend right designs are key to every new kit. This European inspired timeless design was no exception.
Like previous primary kits, this jersey retained a Sporting blue background while introducing a variety of new elements. At the forefront, this marked the first time Sporting had ever used a button-down collar. The white collar matched new white shorts, while the right sleeve featured the “No Other Club” wordmark in captain Matt Besler’s handwriting.
The club wore this kit for some memorable moments throughout the 2017-2018 seasons, the most noteworthy being the club's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup victory in 2017. This clean cut jersey will go down in Sporting history for its commitment to style, trend and personal touches that tied back to the club's identity.
